Founded in 2006 Dean and Esther Hyde bought Men at Work in 2008 as an owner-operator family business.

Dean and Esther and our team have grown Men at Work to a medium size company. Men at Work provides secure employment for over 65 staff.  Celebrating success and providing forums for feedback and good communication. Well-being of our staff is the key focus for 2019.

We have created a positive and caring culture within our business and make a positive impact on the community. Dean Hyde is a business leader who has always shown much empathy towards his staff and has placed great importance on creating opportunity and sharing the positive outcomes that the business has created over the last 10 years.

Dean’s leadership is an ‘arms around’ approach. We all learn and grow together, we work hard and celebrate success, we take care of each other and we take care of our clients. That’s our service and that’s our job.

The Men at Work Team agreed on our company values; Leading, People, Safety, Trust, Innovation, Excellence and Positive Attitude which are frequently referred to in meetings, performance reviews, inductions and building relationships with clients and suppliers.

Dean and Esther are part of the 'CEO Health and Safety Leadership Forum'.

Initiatives to create engagement and awareness regarding Health & Safety and Well-being are included in all levels of Men at Work. We need a healthy and sustainable workforce to execute our brand promise. ‘Leading People in Safety’.

Our Health & Safety and Well-being Manager leads the Health & Safety and Well-being Committee and peruses many initiatives to improve our workplace safety and well-being. We promote long term health, efficiency and productivity of our people, the most valuable asset of Men at Work.

Initially located in Kaiapoi, we took an opportunity to become active members of the Waimakariri Community. The go-to for many events in the Waimakariri.  We have taken the opportunity to educate our community. We help volunteers get involved with Traffic Management of events to keep the cost of the event affordable with the increased compliance.

Our Sponsorship Committee identify the importance and value of the causes and activities we like to support. We consider staff and clients involvement in events as well as various charities.

Men at Work is Accredited Employer through Immigration NZ we employ immigrants and help with residency.

Men at Work use local suppliers in our area for our fleet and building maintenance and other needs. We feel we are making a good contribution to our local economy.

Environmentally Men at Work initiated a cone recycling project when the earthquake rebuilds ended, all Traffic Management Companies in the Canterbury region contributed. This was endorsed by Fletchers Infrastructure.

The Men at Work purpose-built building in Belfast Business Park, Christchurch  has solar power. We have staff members in our team who are very passionate about recycling and becoming paperless. We have also started talking about electric vehicles in our fleet in the coming years.

We are acknowledged specialists in our field, often referred to as the standard to be measured by, made apparent by the numerous service excellence and safety awards we're very proud to have won.

We will help you with end-to-end solutions, from assisting in the design of Traffic Management Plans, helping with council consents and approval processes, setting up and running sites.
