Training Courses

Following changes to the TC / STMS Courses structure with the NZTA Training & Competency Framework, we can now announce we are offering the following courses.

If you would like to complete the NZ Certificate of Temporary Traffic Worksite Management on the NZ Qualifications Framework, you must register your National Student Number (NSN) number with us, so NZQA can award you the unit standards as you complete the courses.

If you are planning on being a TTM Mentor, TTM Assessor and / or TTM Trainer, you must complete this certification and related unit standards. Otherwise it is optional to complete this certificate.

Please contact NZQA on 0800 697 296 or go to https://www.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/contact-us/the-call-centre-nsn-2/ if you do not know your NSN.

First step is to complete your Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Worker course with practical component.

This allows you to work on the road from 21 April 2021 if you do not already hold the TC / STMS qualification.

The TTM Worker course will be around four hours in the classroom, plus four hours on the road.

On completion, US 31958 - Explain the role of and operate as a TTM worker on the worksite under temporary traffic management will be awarded.

Second step is to complete your Traffic Management Operative (TMO) course.

After completing the TMO course, you become a TMO Non-Practicing.

On completion, US 31959 - Demonstrate knowledge of temporary traffic management will be awarded.

Third step is to complete your practicing component of your TMO course.

After completing the practical component, you become a TMO Practicing.

On completion, US 31960 - Maintain the worksite under temporary traffic management will be awarded.

At this stage, you would have to complete this outside of our workshop. We do have opportunities on our jobs where you can get this requirement signed off.

Forth step is to complete your Universal Site Traffic Management Specialist Non-Practicing (STMS-NP) course.

Details are still being developed. We might be combining Universal STMS Course with the Category A & B modules, which is going to take 3.5 days to complete in a classroom.

On completion, US 31961 - Explain the requirements for the worksite under temporary traffic management and US 31962 -  Explain the requirements for the worksite under temporary traffic management for a road environment as defined in CoPTTM will be awarded.

Fifth step is to complete your practicing component of your STMS course.

After completing the practical component, you become a STMS Practicing.

On completion, US 31963 - Operate as a practicing Site Traffic Management Specialist (STMS) on a road environment as defined in CoPTTM will be awarded.

At this stage, you would have to complete this outside of our workshop. We do have opportunities on our jobs where you can get this requirement signed off.
